Tennessee law defines sexual assault (referred to as battery in the law) under Code § 39-13-505 as “unlawful sexual contact with a victim by the defendant or the defendant by a victim.” These acts include but are not limited to:
- Rape or attempted rape
- Unwanted touching
- Forcing a victim to perform sexual acts through coercion, intimidation, or fraud
